Water-logging

Water-logging has become a very common affair in our country particularly in the rainy season. Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and Chittagong, the port city, are the worst victims of water-logging. If it rains in torrent for around two to three hours, water-logging is a must in the major cities. Unplanned urbanization, poor drainage system, huge wastes of mills and factories are mainly responsible for water-logging. Transportation becomes rare to move from one place to another. The city dwellers are to face untold sufferings. The students, office goers, the commuters become compelled to wade through the filthy water. It kills their valuable times. The city people are also attacked by the various diseases caused by water-logging. General people will have to leave the major cities unless the concerned authorities find any solution to this fatal problem.

সরল বঙ্গানুবাদ

বিশেষকরে বর্ষাকালে আমাদের দেশে জলাবদ্ধতা একটি সাধারণ বিষয়। রাজধানী ঢাকা ও বন্দরনগরী চট্টগ্রাম সবচেয়ে মারাত্মক জলাবদ্ধতার শিকার। দুই থেকে তিন ঘন্টা বৃষ্টি হলে, বড়ো বড়ো শহরগুলিতে জলাবদ্ধতা অবশ্যম্ভাবী। অপরিকল্পিত নগরায়ন, পানি নিষ্কাশনের বেহাল অবস্থা, কল কারখানার আবর্জনা মূলত জলাবদ্ধতার জন্য দায়ী। নগরবাসীকে অবর্ণনীয় দুর্ভোগ পোহাতে হয়। এক জায়গা থেকে আরেক জায়গায় যাওয়ার মতো যানবাহন দুর্লভ হয়ে পড়ে। ছাত্র, পেশাজীবী, যারা বাসে যাতায়াত করেন, তাদেরকে নোংরা পানির ভেতর দিয়ে যাতায়াত করতে হয়। মূল্যবান সময় নষ্ট হয়। জলাবদ্ধতার কারণে সৃষ্ট নানা রোগে নগরবাসী আক্রান্ত হয়। সাধারণ মানুষ বড়ো বড়ো শহর ছাড়তে বাধ্য হবে যদি কর্তৃপক্ষ এই সমস্যার সমাধাণ খুঁজে না পান।
