A Rainy Day

There are six seasons in Bangladesh. Rainy season (বর্ষাকাল) is one of them. Rain is very much common in the rainy season. Rain has a big appeal (আবেদন) to the poets, novelists (ঔপন্যাসিক) and lovers. A rainy day gives us some relief from monotony (একঘেয়ে/ নিরস). The farmers wait for rain as it makes the soil more cultivable (চাষযোগ্য). But excessive rain (অতি বৃষ্টি) causes untold sufferings (অবর্ণনীয় কষ্ট). The poor are the worst sufferers (সবচেয়ে ভুক্তভোগী) of a rainy day. They cannot go outside for their livelihood (জীবিকা). They are to sit idle (অলস বসে থাকতে হয়) at home.

Rain in Nature

In a rainy day, it is seen that the students, office goers, commuters (যাত্রী) have to wade through (যেতে হয়) knee-deep water (হাটু সমান পানি) to come back home as the rain causes waterlogging (জলাবদ্ধতা). Heavy rainfall (ব্যাপক বৃষ্টিপাত) is also responsible for (দায়ী) devastating landslides (মারাত্মক ভূমিধ্বস) in the hilly areas. A rainy day is very much enjoyable for the children. They enjoy bathing under the shower of rain going outside. Some kids pass their time by playing hide and seek (লুকোচুরি) or other indoor games with other kids. The poets are fond of (প্রিয়/ ভালোলাগা) watching rain. It creates romanticism and poetic feelings to compose (রচনা করা) new and newer poems. The lovers also wait for rain. It makes them nostalgic (অতীত স্মৃতিবিধুর). In short, we can say that a rainy day has both positive and negative impacts (প্রভাব) on our everyday life.

বৃষ্টির দিনে কবি ভাব

মন চায়- নিয়ে বৃষ্টি
করি সৃষ্টি
অমর কবিতা আজ
কিন্তু হায়- হাতের আঙুল
করে ভুল
থামে কবিতার কাজ.....


তবুও বৃষ্টি- ঝরে অবিরাম
'থাম থাম'
বলেও হয় না লাভ
হয় মিষ্টি- কিছুক্ষণ
আলাপন
চলে আসে কবি ভাব.....
